Black Tusk
Imperial stout with black treacle and toasted barrel staves. Brewed in collaboration with @deadendbrewmachine, we put together a recipe for a deep rich imperial stout, layered with dark, roast and crystal malts, along with a 100kg of Tate and Lyle black treacle. The treacle adds a rich bittersweet flavour with notes of liquorice and caramel. We conditioned the beer on staves from a PX cask, which we chopped up and toasted in our smoker. The result is a powerful stout with notes of treacle, plums, burnt caramel, barrel oak and a whisper of smoke / 10% / 440ml
