Tommie Sjef Tasting
We’ve teamed up with local dutch beer aficionado Cafe Amsterdam, to host a Tommie Sjef bottle tasting. Specialising in wild ales, fermented and aged in wooden barrels, Tommie Sjef produce some of the most exquisite examples of the style we’ve ever tasted, comfortably on par with many of the well known Belgian lambic producers. If you’re into your funky, sour stuff then this is one not to be missed.

Oude / A very special blend of wild ales aged from 1 to 4 years. The older beers offer a characterful and complex taste, while the younger ones add freshness, herbal and floral qualities to the blend.
Kriek / Our interpretation of this classic style is a blend of different wild ales combined with organic sour cherries, fermented for over half a year in a red wine foeder. Expect dark berry notes, fresh cherries, some spices and a touch of red wine with a pronounced sourness and firm tannins for a dry finish.
Bitter / A blend of a saison and mature beer from older barrels. Produced using a large amount of hops, the resulting bitterness works well with the complexity of the older beer.
Franc / A wild ale with Cabernet Franc and a touch of Kékfrankos red wine grapes. After maceration with the grapes, we aged the beer further for another year and a half on a foeder that previously contained Amarone wine from Veneto, Italy. This rounded out the beer and gave it more complexity and depth.
